It's not about us

Being a grandmother for a week now has made me appreciate my family even more. We have experienced such joy and happiness by adding to our family a new son and daughter, but also have now added a grandchild with another on the way. It really is the circle of life that I am seeing, that my mother has seen and that our children are seeing. The beauty of a life created out of love, in perfection, can only be a miracle, God's miracle. There really is no other way to describe all that has been poured out on our family. We are very grateful and blessed!

Busy, Happy Times!

I have just been delinquent in my blogging for many reasons. WE did spend a wonderful long weekend with our Colorado children the first weekend in Sept. Glenn and I had not been to Colorado together and it was just beautiful. But my favorite part of the trip had to be to Estes Park to the Alpaca show. What sweet animals and what great fiber and what a beautiful place. Of course, I now need some land and money to raise Alpacas.

Of course time has passed and we are awaiting our first grandchild- Roxie Lynn Simmons due in just 2 weeks. I want you all to see 3 generations with the 4th due any day, and how very beautiful Christina looks as an expectant mother. Oh and the guy at the top with Christina would be Roxie's dad, Kris. But not the guy on the left- that would be Papa G, Roxies grandpa. I just can't get the pictures in the right place. I am a little challenged.
Ryan and Samantha and little one will be home in Dec. for good we hope. All of us have been so blessed!
We love our families!

Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer????

That's what I want to call it. 99 degrees and no relief insight. Seems to me that years ago in the South, this is when we should be "sittin" on the porch drinking ice tea, rocking and fanning ourselves. But we don't live in the country and the women don't get together to quilt and cook while the men clear trees and have a log rolling. You ask where did I get that? Well, my dear sweet Southern Belle of a 92 year mom has started telling stories that I have never heard before. This was one of her rememberences - and the fact that she didn't like to quilt. We are fortunate to still have her with us and enjoyed having over to our house yesterday after church to visit with Nick before he starts his adventure in Colorado.

Stomp in New Orleans

Glenn and I just got back today from 5 days in the Big Easy. When we arrived, we asked the driver to take us to the "W" (our hotel) on Poydros. We get there and guess, no room, not even booked there????? But, alas, we were at the much more intimate and convenient "W" in the Quarter, the French Quarter. We walk in to a quaint courtyard to find out room in the carriage house, by the pool. And then to our surprise, we have our own small courtyard with a Hot Tub. Do not be deceived by how divine this sounds. We were soon to discover that not only was the courtyard a gathering place at all hours of the late night or very early morning, but the pool needed work, our room had an outdoor speaker right over our door and we had a stomper above us. Our first evening after dinner, a large group from Alabama sat outside in the courtyard and just really enjoyed the weather and the very interesting movie on the wall. Well, it really wasn't a movie but a modern art view of 6 windows and the people who kept looking out. Really very interesting. We retired that evening looking forward to a great nights sleep only to be awakened by the stomper at 1:35 am. When I say stomper I mean Marathon Runner from one end of the room to another for at least 45 minutes..... Finally we fall back asleep to be startled from our sleep at 0700 to the sound of jack hammers and men yelling why repairing the pool. Pillows over our heads we can only moan until they quit around 0745. At 0830, the LOUD music over our door starts for those wanting to begin their day at the pool. We do realize we are in New Orleans and that people sleep at different times but shouldn't they sleep more than a few hours? We continue on during the week with the same scenario but without the jackhammers. We were very fortunate to have some fine dinners at NOLA'S on Tuesday and Wednesday. While at NOLA'S Glenn goes to the restroom and happens to see the back of a man's head and comes to tell me it has to be John Edwards. Well then our entire party has to go check it out and he indeed is eating in the room next to ours. Glenn's says he could tell who he was by the great haircut he had!
We have more stories about the stomper but later................

Celebrations

Once again, I am behind on our blogging. We were able to celebrate Chritina's birthday on July 8 at Joe's Crab Shack and even had my Mom there. She had an especially good time! Christina had a good time and has started to look pregnant!

The photo's from my Mom's birthday, Ryan and Sam's party, Christina's party and some very lovely flowers I have grown in the yard. Samantha has inspired me to post flowers since hers were so pretty. We look forward to our trip to New Orleans this week, but really look forward to our trip to see Ryan, Samantha, and Nick in late August.
It's too hot today to be witty and charming, besides I have writers block.
Love, Carol, Mom, Cecebelle

The Day after Independence Day

We have been very busy lately! As you can see, Glenn got a new bike, but it's not quite the bike Samantha's dad got! It's yet another attempt for both of us to get in better shape. We also went to Point Clear last weekend and saw some really cool things, a great view of Mobile Bay and an Osprey nest on the Fish River.

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Belated July 4th!
